International Law

2019
University of Houston Law Center

International law is a dynamic field that increasingly permeates all other fields of law. This course surveys the nature and sources of international law, the law of treaties, recognition of states and governments, self-determination, human rights, the application of international law in domestic courts, dispute settlement, use of armed force, and international criminal law. As the field of international law is too vast to cover comprehensively in a single course, this course will familiarize students with the basic tenets of international law and serve as a springboard for those wishing to study international law in greater depth.
